THE CHARITY DESIGN CO - ON SQUARESPACE MARKETPLACE
Ok People, this is not a drill! This has been years in the making and it finally happened this past month.
This week its going to be a bit more personal as I give you a personal update and win for me as a contractor, consultant and web designer.
GUYS!!! Thats me! Right there! FINALLY Advertised on Squarespace’s website!
Some Background Info.
I have worked on Squarespace since 2012. Professionally designing sites for clients since then too. I love me some SQSP and but they really started building out their Pro/Expert programs and support while I was working as an in-house designer for the Hard Rock and doing freelance part-time. So I wasn’t able to keep up with the qualifications and expectations required despite my years of experience.
Last Month, things changed.
I finally set aside time for Circle Day, a day where SQSP brings in speakers and support for their Circle Members. I was once again reminded that I am not listed as an expert and I wanted to try one more time to get noticed and see if I met the qualifications.
Here’s the Deal…
You see, I am apart of a few “guild” SQSP designer chat groups and saw how many newer designers qualified and thought I just had to ask ONE. LAST. TIME. All the time, imposter syndrome was hitting HARD. Then about 1 week after Circle Day, I finally got the email.
The reality was, I hadn’t really sat down to fully market myself on my own website EVER. (That is until last year). This was simply because I was too busy with current clients to really organize myself well online. Heck, I thought if I was THRIVING from referral business, why should I devote the time + energy to do something that my current client’s didn’t need. It was something I needed. I NEEDED this to get this win.
Sometimes, as freelancers and contractors, we grind for the next project or the kind words from a client. We do not have the company awards + recognition that corporate often utilizes.
