4 EASY + SIMPLE STEPS FOR YOUR NONPROFIT TO GET SET UP GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Google Search Console will give you some analysis of your search results and how your site is performing but if you want the real data, you need Google Analytics.

It will help you in getting the proper details for your website and users. Serious information about where, when, how someone found you and anything else you could need to know. While not an immediate SEO impact like search console and business listing, analytics will help in developing a better SEO strategy and help you see what works and doesnt. 


STEP 1 TO SET UP YOUR NONPROFIT’S GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Go to Google Analytics & Set Up using their prompts

(Make sure you are still signed on as your NPO admin)

*Bonus if you use the same account to link your google ad grant.
*Bonus Bonus, if you use the same account to link your google search console account to submit your sitemap.
*Bonus Bonus Bonus, if you use the same account for your google business. 


STEP 2 TO SET UP YOUR NONPROFIT’S GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Follow the steps and complete registration.

  • CLICK “Create an Account” and follow the prompts.

  • OPEN “Advanced Options” and toggle on “Universal Analytics Property”.

  • INPUT the required data and when you come to the option to choose between Google Analytics 4 and Universal Property, choose “Universal Analytics 4”.

  • CONTINUE through the setup and finally “Create”.

  • ACCEPT terms and “Finish


STEP 3 TO SET UP YOUR NONPROFIT’S GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Copy Tracking ID

Once you “Finish” you will be given a “Tracking ID” Copy this to your clipboard.


STEP 4 TO SET UP YOUR NONPROFIT’S GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Put ID In Squarespace

Now you will navigate to Squarespace

Go to Settings > Advanced > External API Keys and paste in the Tracking ID that you were given.

Make sure to “Save” and you are done! Seriously, you rock!


So there you have it. It really is that easy.

I would suggest you go in and check your analytics about every 2 weeks or so. Google will also send you alerts and warnings to your admin email.
