4 TOP WAYS I UPDATED THIS WEBSITE TO BE DONOR FOCUSED

I am so excited to share with you all my first build of 2023! It was for a client I honestly couldn’t wait to get started for and was genuinely such a pleasure.

Cabrini Immigrant Services of NYC reached out in the late fall of 2022 saying they needed a website. Our schedules and the timing of the holiday meant that we needed to start in late January 2023. We got started and kept on time with an early launch.

First, they were not sure if they wanted a rebrand as their logo is all over lots of items and pretty recognized by their community. However, the Mother Cabrini image is quite known and there are lots of other organizations that have an updated look that fall under a beautiful purple umbrella. Updating their branding was a wonderful challenge where we explored variations of their current logo mark and various offshoots of modernizing. We ended up going all in and I am so glad they are happy.

The web build was a seamless process too where we worked hard to establish a wireframe of pages and the general structure of the website. My method of “donor-focused” was really embraced here with the Cabrini Immigrant Services NYC Team and it made the final end product so much better. Check out the 4 key areas that got a donor-focused overhaul.

1st TOP UPDATE

Restructured for ease of communication

Their site prior was lots of information dumped for someone to read. One of my main tasks was to organize their information in a way that made sense first and foremost for a donor to get what they need. We often talk in my blog about the 6 donor avatars and this build hits on all 6. We wanted communication of events, awards, programs, people, and impact to all be super visible while not being overbearing.

2nd TOP UPDATE

Donate buttons all over

Their previous website did have a decent amount of buttons but we made sure to follow a good pattern of CTA’s with DONATE buttons.

3rd TOP UPDATE

Put the donor at the forefront

It can be difficult to build a whole website as donor-focused and still have numerous items and sections be outreach. But that is just the thing with your 6 donor avatars, they are looking for items that only enhance your organization. Placement of their outreach CTA’s fit nicely in secondary navigation areas at the bottom of the program pages in addition to “DONATE” CTAs. The outcome then is a beautiful combination of Need and Cause.

4th TOP UPDATE

Weglot

I was super excited to use Weglot for the first time. The Cabrini Immigrant Services NYC demographic had a high amount of spanish speakers so we needed to make sure the website was fully translated. This was either going to be a tall task or something we could use a tool for. Enter Weglot. Weglot has so many amazing features, I will need to do another whole post on it but ultimately, it really works seamlessly with Squarespace and CIS was super happy it saved them time. (and I was too)

I am immensely honored and blessed that this build with such amazing clients was the first to open my 2023 year. Make sure to check out Cabrini Immigrant Services NYC, donate and tell your friends about their amazing impact.

ALWAYS on your side + team

Cheers,
